Impossible Cave 0.5 detailed changes
New additions since 0.4
- The cave now has its 100th and final floor. This floor has one final opponent waiting for you if you manage to clear the 4th boss. It is rumored to be responsible for every random event that happens within the cave. (Note that beating the 4th boss still counts as "winning" the run, regardless of what happens to you in the new final final fight. You will only have a chance at the bonus fight if you are incredibly overpowered. See how far through it you can get!)
- Companions now have varied classes. Each one has its own strengths and weaknesses Some learn specific aura skills or basic skills. A new interactable decision point may offer to change a companion's class mid-run.
- Added the perk "Another Chance", which will let you stay in the cave after the first lost battle. It does not heal you at all; is it merely a potential defense against a single super unlucky fight
- Added 15 kinds of floor tiles unique to the game, used for outside, the lobby, and the cave floors.
- Added 9 kinds of wall tiles unique to the game, used for outside, the lobby, and the cave floors.
- Added 22 kinds of map objects unique to the game. These include flowers for the outside areas, tables and gates for the lobby, and the brand new chest sprite (which I spent so much time on)
- Added 58 kinds of map characters that represent the enemies of the cave. Previously, all enemies on the map used the same default sprite. They have all been swapped out to be something more recognizable to their associated enemy formation (for example, rocks and crystals use variations of a crystal sprite).
- Added icons to make more things unique that were previously sharing icons (check out the new ones for the Chip items!)
- Added one custom battle background, but you have to get to the super bonus fight to see it. More soon?
- New music track for the 3rd and 4th bosses, as well as a unique one for the new bonus boss
- New sound effect for acquiring items from chests
- There is now a HUD! In this version, it informs you of the floor you are on. More things may be displayed in the future
Other changes
- Removed tints on the cave floors, because the colors of the new tiles now set the mood by themselves
- Custom images appear and disappear during the "change class?" dialog. These are entirely image files, so the little bar graphs are all manual guesses
- Dapper is now a class, so the Dapper Charm rare item has been replaced with a new one, which may make sense if you've played a certain other project...
- Diamond Flare/Snow/Bolt, instead of having a chance to inflict certain states, now have a chance to drop an item which can be used by any party member which has a high chance of applying that state. You can only hold one of each of these at a time!
- Some upgraded versions of equipment that worked with aura skills now add more of them, especially the counter-suit skills (Spade Blueblade, Diamond Greenbeam, etc). Also, these counter-suit skills now do even more damage when they hit their respective counter
- Many enemies which were lacking unique abilities on Unsealed Cave now have them. Some of their additional abilities can vary between runs
- The Sanctuary has a unique image now
- Slight power adjustments in countless numbers of placements to make it slightly easier for both you and the enemy team to kill each other faster
- The companion face images are still placeholder, but not *as* placeholder as they were before
- Fixed an issue from 0.4 where a certain late floor accidentally may lead you into itself
- New issues concerning stability of the game have appeared, but plugins and some manual adjustments have also been implemented so that these issues hopefully do not happen in the release version
